Dear [MP’s Name]
I am your constituent, and I am writing to you about the Domestic Abuse Bill.
I support the amendments to the Domestic Abuse Bill, tabled by Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, that would provide effective defences for survivors who offend due to their experience of domestic abuse. These provisions would modernise the law, deter inappropriate prosecutions and protect survivors from unjust treatment. Please write to the Secretary of State for Justice expressing my support for these measures and asking him what he will do to ensure survivors are protected and not unjustly punished. You can find out more by attending the cross-party, joint parliamentary event which is being hosted by Baroness Helena Kennedy QC and Jess Phillips MP on Thursday 4 March, 6.00-7.00pm.

I would be very grateful to know if you would write to the Secretary of State for Justice and would support an amendment to improve protection for victims of domestic violence in this way.
Kind regards
